With an abundance of apples around in Autumn, its a great time to preserve them for later on in the year.
Apples.
Lemon juice (to prevent discolouration)
** CAN TOSS IN CINNAMON TOO BEFORE DRYING
Using an apple corer or a knife, cut out the core of the apple. Slice apple in rounds, being careful to ensure that the apple round remains whole. You should end up with an apple ring. Toss in lemon juice.
DEHYDRATOR
Place apple rounds in a dehydrator for around 8 hours. Store in an airtight container.
OVEN
Turn oven to lowest temperature. Place apples on an oven tray. Leave oven door partially open and dehydrate for around 10-20 hours dependant on oven.
STRING DRY
In the cooler months when the heater is going in our home, we string up the apples on a rope and hang in the doorway of external doors. This way of drying will take a couple of days, netherless delcious.
